Regeneration

Regeneration

If the bone supporting your teeth has been destroyed due to advanced gum disease (periodontitis), your periodontist may recommend bone and tissue regeneration as a form of gum disease surgery.

Before the tissue regeneration procedure, the periodontist will fold back the gum tissue and remove periodontal disease-causing bacteria. To promote the body's natural ability to regenerate bone and gingivae tissue (gum tissue), membranes (filters), bone grafts, and tissue-stimulating proteins can be used by your periodontist specialist.

Removing bacteria, smoothing tooth structure surfaces and regenerating bone and gum tissue helps to reduce pocket depth (that forms between gums and teeth in advanced gum disease) and repair damage caused by the development of periodontal disease.
